Daily stock work

Product variants and kits

Keep sizes and colours together, and track products made from other products.

Use a family for sizes and colours

A product family holds the shared details, while each variant keeps its own SKU, barcode, stock, and cost. Use variants when you count or sell sizes and colours independently. The product list can collapse the family to one row while retaining each variant’s separate balance.

For example, small and large gloves can share a family name but need different stock records. Receiving small gloves must not increase the large-glove balance.

Choose how the kit is stocked

A kit is a product made of other products. A built kit is assembled ahead of time: building it removes components and adds finished kits, valued at the cost of the parts used. A sold-as-a-kit product holds no independent stock; selling it removes its components.

Enter the component recipe and quantities, then check how many kits the available parts can make. A kit requiring two cables and one hub needs those exact proportions.

Keep component availability in view

Record stock at the location where the parts are held and use the build workflow for assembled kits. Do not import a kit stock balance as a substitute for recording its component consumption.

Reorder works with component needs rather than treating kits as ordinary purchased products. Inspect the recipe and component balances when a kit cannot be built or sold in the expected quantity.
