Receiving, removing, recounting, and moving stock

Choose the stock action that explains what physically happened.

Choose the right action

Stock actions
ActionWhat it means
ReceiveAdd stock that arrived.
RemoveTake stock out for a sale, use, or another reason.
RecountSet the actual quantity counted.
MoveTransfer stock between locations.

Open a product and use its stock actions. Check the location before entering a quantity; a correct total in the wrong place will still cause trouble when picking or counting.

Record the details that explain the change

For a receipt, enter the quantity received and the purchase cost paid. Use the pack option if receiving whole cases. For a removal, select the reason and enter the sale price when the stock was sold. Add a note that will help you recognize the delivery, job, or correction later.

Use the order’s receiving workflow when stock arrives against an open supplier order, so the remaining ordered quantity stays connected to the delivery.

Review the result

After saving, inspect the product’s balances and recent activity. A Move should lower one location and raise another by the same amount. A Recount should leave the selected stock balance equal to the counted quantity, rather than add that quantity on top.

For several removals at once, use Take out. For a planned count across products, use Stocktake so you retain the scope and variance report.
