Selecting, bulk editing, and archiving

Select the products you mean

Choose Select above the list to show checkboxes, or press and hold a card on a touch screen. The checkbox in the table header selects everything currently shown, and holding Shift while ticking extends the selection across the rows in between.

A selection is kept by product, not by row, so it survives searching, filtering, sorting, and re-rendering. A variant family has one checkbox that stands for all of its variants; ticking one variant leaves the family’s box half-selected.

Edit many products at once

Edit opens a sheet where every control starts at “Leave unchanged”, so the action can only ever do what you explicitly asked. You can set the category (an existing one, a new one, or none), the location, the supplier, and the low-stock threshold.

Changing the location moves the stock with it for any product whose stock all sits in one place, and records that move in the activity log. Products split across several locations are left alone; those need a deliberate transfer.

The threshold row offers three ways to set it: type one number for everything, fall back to the store default, or take each product’s own suggested reorder point. The suggestion is a different number per product, and the sheet says how many of the selected products would actually change before you apply it.

Export, label, archive, delete

The bar along the bottom also offers Export, which writes just the selected products as CSV, and Labels, which opens the barcode label sheet for them.

Archive retires the selection, and the same button restores it when everything selected is already archived. Delete asks first, then removes the products and offers an undo for a few seconds. Product photos are kept for as long as that undo is available, and removed with the products once it lapses.

Prefer archiving to deleting

An archived product keeps its details, threshold, SKU, barcode, and history, and leaves the products list, the totals, the alerts, and the reports. Its SKU stays reserved, so an import that matches it warns you rather than quietly adding stock to something nobody can see.

Deleting is final once the undo lapses. A single product can only be deleted permanently from its edit sheet after it has been archived, which is the point: reversible first, final only for something already retired.
